The Swedish School (SSN) is located at the crossroads of Ngong Rd and Makindi Rd (opposite Impala Sportsclub) in Nairobi. We offer high quality education for Scandinavian speaking students in Kenya.
The school follows the Swedish curriculum and most classes are taught in Swedish. We cater for students from three years (pre-school) until graduation of upper secondary school (18-19 years old). We have around 150 students whereby half is in preschool and secondary school and half in upper secondary school.
Since we are recognized by and follow the Swedish Schools Authority, our grades are recognized by the Swedish school system and the Swedish universities. Hence, no translation/transition of grades are necessary for moving to Sweden.
We have a boarding for upper secondary students only, which enable visiting students to get a one-year experience of East-Africa with the benefit of continuing straight away with their old class in Sweden. Students that take a year in other parts of the world, like the UK, US or Australia normally need to redo their school year in Sweden to get credited for university.
Currently, we only accept students who have at least one Swedish/Scandinavian speaking parent in their home, even though English as a language is very much part of everyday life in School.
